“The curious paradox of life is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
-Carl Rogers, psychotherapist
In today’s society where so many focus on appearance and constantly strive for that elusive sense of perfection, the notion of accepting oneself can be a challenge. What if we could learn to accept and appreciate our own imperfections and embrace the uniqueness they contribute?
It takes great courage and vulnerability to acknowledge areas of hurt, weakness, or feeling like an imposter – like you might be “found out” at any moment.
When we can accept ourselves, we are then free to cultivate the very best of who we are. While I will help you to understand the nature and root of your challenges, I will also help you see the beauty of your unique strengths and talents so you can heal and move toward the life you want.
Individual Counseling for Adults
Stress, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, grief, depression, addictions and relationship issues are just a few of the issues we deal with throughout our lifetime.
As a licensed psychologist, I help individuals resolve their struggles in a safe, open and nurturing environment. I truly believe that we are more than just behaviors or emotions. That’s why a holistic approach that also considers physical, spiritual, and mental wellbeing is so important to regaining a renewed sense of hope and finding meaning in our lives.
Counseling sessions may involve traditional cognitive behavioral and insight-oriented approaches, as well as mindfulness and positive thinking techniques.
Counseling for Children & Adolescents
Often children and teens have difficulty dealing with the challenges faced during these formative years. I work with young people who might be struggling at school, at home, or in their social lives and collaborate with the adults in their lives, allowing every voice to be heard.
Having been trained in neuropsychology, I recognize the brain is still developing during this time of life. This means that sometimes youth lack effective coping strategies and may have difficulty with risk-taking behaviors, interpersonal relations, and developing their own identity.
Individual counseling supports an understanding of their unique situation and helps young people acquire the skills and strategies they need to overcome daily struggles and regain their best happy self.
